A la Carte Clinics and Lessons - Designed Just For You!

Ala Carte Horsemanship Clinic Set For October.




  Ala Carte Clinic October 22 & 23 (Sat - Sun)
Strike Off on the Correct Lead and Join Terri Jordan at The Natural Gait for One Day of Horsemanship Strategies followed by a day of private lessons. 
Start time:  9AM both days.
• Lodging details: Cabins and camping available
• Meals: Available for purchase
• Cost: Both days: $175 (7 total hours of instruction = $25 hour)
• AM session only: $100 (3 hours instruction = $33 hour)
• Private session only $100 - (2 hour minimum = $50 hour)
• You have OPTIONS!

Participate in the morning and/or afternoon session. If your horse isn't ride-able participate in the morning only. If your horse is ride-able, participate in BOTH! Followed by a day of private one on one hourly sessions working on whatever you need help with.
Day 1:
AM Session: Ground Work. Learn safe and controlled strategies of proving to your horse that you are his leader BEFORE you hit the saddle! Build confidence in yourself about your abilities to become the leader your horse needs. Prove to your horse that you can be trusted as his leader to keep him safe and comfortable. 
PM Session: Ridden Work - Morning session is a requirement for this afternoon ridden session. Apply the ground work towards mounted work. You will learn how to move body parts and put them into patterns.  Keeping your horse between your reins and your legs. 
Day 2:
Turn your concerns into your successes!!  Use this time to work with Terri individually for 1 hour of private instruction. If you opt to ONLY have a private session with Terri, this will become a 2 hour minimum. If you've participated in the first day, your session is 1 hour unless you request more time. If you require more than one hour, the extra time is $30 per hour.

Horsemanship Video Critique  
$40 per video.
It's convenient because:
• You can prepare it in your own back yard at your convenience
• You don't have to travel
• The training tips offered can be practiced over the winter at your leisure
HOWEVER! This does not take the place of clinic time or important and valuable hands on. What it can do is provide you with some information that may be useful to you for something that has a simple fix. Terri will let you know if she needs to see you. But most likely will be able to offer valuable information on line.

Boots: Lace Up or Pulling On

A Tip From Terri Jordan Horsemanship Foundation Horse Trainer. 

 
I see lots of people get caught up in style and comfort versus safety when deciding what boot to buy for horseback riding. 

Some of us pretty much live in our riding boots on a daily basis, so of course we want them to be comfortable.  But I want you to consider the safety differences between the lace up or the pull on options for boots.  Lets have a look...

The lace up boot, stylish and popular, can actually trap you if you come off of your horse.  Consequently dragging you until you can come free.  How so, you ask?  If your foot gets caught in the stirrup during an involuntary dismount, your laces will prevent your boot from coming off.  Try it, put your lace ups on as usual and then try to pull it off of your foot without loosening the laces.  Pretty hard isn't it? 

The pull on boot will slip off should your foot become hung up in the stirrup if you were to fall off of your horse.  You will be free of being dragged.  

If you are absolutely in love with your lace ups and aren't willing to buy pull on ype riding boots, you still have options.  You can purchase stirrups that will prevent you from being dragged.  Some of them have hinges that will open the stirrup up should you fall.  Some of them aren't a completely enclosed stirrup.  You can loosen your laces enough so your foot will slide out of the boot should you get hung up.  Or, I suppose, your other option is to take your chances.  

I used to only use lace up riding boots.  I thought it was pretty cool to have tassels and fringe hanging off the laces.  But then I learned about safety before style.  

Safety or style....which will you chose?
